A different look?
I cant remember where i saw this, mabey on a youtube video, but when they logged in, their character select screen was different, the characters where in a type of old ascalon place, and they were all lined up, and when u clicked on them they stepped forward, was that just a rly old char select screen, or can u download different ones?
Ty in advance |

It was changed a month or two before Factions was released and has been changed every time a new campaign/expansion was released. Unfortunately there's no way to change them back.

Yes. Back then we could only have four character slots per account. Which is one of the reasons people have multiple accounts.
BTW: That shot was taken at the time of the first 'Mad King' festival (November 1, 2005). Last edited by quickmonty; Mar 01, 2008 at 03:41 PM // 15:41.. |

Wow I played long before release of factions and don't remember that screen. Given it was along time ago and I was probably still in school and not playing very much back then.

I miss those days...
But yeah, they changed it a few months before Factions to this sort of pillar floating in the sea, and it was like the screen now - you'd click on icons and your characters would pop up, and you could move the camera. Nightfall then changed it again, so did GW:EN. The original screen will forever live on in my heart though... |

Factions was released in January 2006 (iirc), so that would be only a couple months between the date of that screen shot and Faction release.

@Tatile Been suggested, the response from Gaile(or another dev) is that its not technically possible. Likely because you can have upwards of 30(?) characters slots, not just a measly 12. |

There were two more loading screens after the original Yaks Bend-like one and before the present GW:EN one: there was one inspired by Factions and one by Nightfall. I think I liked the Factions one the best, personally.

Man I miss those days. And that was definitely my favorite load screen.
Quote:
I ask why they couldn't mesh the two (old log in screen and new designs and whatnot) so that you could have, maybe 6 characters standing around the fire at a time and then hit one of the arrow keys at the bottom of the screen those characters move away and a new batch of 6 appear. Kind of how they do it now at the bottom of the screen, but with more than one character. Does anyone understand what I'm trying to say? It's kinda hard for me to explain and my photo editing skills or nonexistent so no visuals. |
